From 17th-21st December The Tehelka Foundation celebrated their annual festival called “The Young Visionary.” The attempt was to bring all our young friends from private and government schools on a common platform, to share ideas and opinions and flow easily towards one another.


We were graced by the presence of Smt.Sheila Dikshit,
Hon.Chief Minister, Delhi, who inaugurated the function on
17th December at the National Bal Bhavan, New Delhi.

During the other four days Nandita Das(actress), Mr.Naveen Jindal (M.P Hissar), Mr Sachin Pilot(M.P Dausa,Rajasthan), Mr. Sanjoy Roy (Trustee, Salaam Baalak Trust), Mr. Pankaj Pachori (senior anchor, NDTV) and Mr.Amit Kaushik (Director, Ministry of HRD) attended as Chief guests.

Besides them Dr.Amit Sen (Psychiatrist and counselor) and Mr.Vijay Simha (Counsellor- Drug de-addiction) held interactive sessions with the students.

About 3000 students came together and participated in this five day event amongst which were seven Private schools, seven Government schools and six NGO institutions.

The students participated in a number of
creative workshops. amongst which were:

Various NGOs set-up stalls, held workshops, games and screened films related to various social issues.
Among them were:

We For Yamuna - concerned with raising public interest on the fate of the Yamuna river, seriously endangered by pollution.

Toxics Link•- Develops an information exchange against toxic pollution and link groups working on toxics and waste issues.

Society For Child Development – works for empowerment of all persons with disabilities.

Bal Sahyog – Works for education and child development.

Kabir - Uses the Right to Information Act to fight corruption and demand transparency and accountability from government departments

Goonj.– Re-use and re-cycling of urban waste as a rural resource

Salaam Baalak Trust – concerns itself with the welfare of street and working children in and around New Delhi Railway Station.

Deepalaya – Works in the field of educating slum children.

NAZ .– Committed to raising awareness to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS

Ritinjali
– Works in the field of Education and Community Developmen

Jagori
– Research and advocacy on issues concerning women’s empowerment

Wildlife S.O.S– Wildlife conservation as well as with stray animals in the cities

PETA– Wildlife conservation

Wildlife Trust Of India– Wildlife conservation
