In December 2004, Tehelka launched its Social Responsibility Initiative with the iPartner Citizenship workshops, with schoolchildren in Delhi.

The intent of these workshops was to ignite the spark of social connect within young people and encourage them to actively participate in community issues.

The children were encouraged to share their dreams and aspirations and broaden their horizons.

Parametres of success were questioned, paradigms of growth, of power, of a social consciousness was opened up for discussion.

Each workshop had a guest speaker, who inspired the children with her/his life story, wherein she/he shared her/his choice of the road less travelled, because instinctively it seemed to be the right one for her/ him.

Reinforcing for the students the Power of their choice, of where they actually wanted to pitch their lives – whether they wanted to restrict it to one of individual enterprise or widen the canvas to one of public engagement.
