Part of the learning from "The Summit
of the Powerless" has been recognition of the vital
need to bridge the gap between Urban and Rural India,
especially as far as our youth is concerned.
The Tehelka Foundation is working on an intensive rural
outreach program wherein we would like to expose student
volunteers to alternate models of development in different
parts of the country.
For this, we have started a dialogue with a number
of organizations working at the grassroots level on
issues dealing with:
- Tribal Development
- Sustainable Agricultural
- Organic farming
- Social Forestry
- Women's Empowerment
- Rain water Harvesting
- Rural Business Centers
- Community Media
- Health
- Panchayati Raj
The intent of this effort is to provide young people practical
hands - on experience, encouraging them to engage and
learn from the community.
